About Us
Mike and LeeAnn are from Parowan, Utah. They have been married since 2002 and have five incredible kids; four girls and finally, one boy.
Mike is a sixth generation farmer and rancher who thoroughly loves his job. He works through every season with a positive attitude, committed to learning new skills and bettering his business.
LeeAnn is a registered nurse, currently not practicing while their kids are in the home. Being a mother and homemaker is what she has always wanted to be.
How It Started
In 2014, Mike and his dad drove almost 600 miles to pick up a piece of equipment for their farm. Upon returning, they learned of an employee from the local dealership who had driven through the same location. He easily could have pulled the equipment home for them.
The wheels started turning. Mike knew there had to be a way to make connections with others who were already traveling, who could make similar deliveries. When he couldn’t find what he was looking for, the idea for MAD Freight was born.
Mike and LeeAnn talked to people in the community to figure out how to make this dream come about. They eventually hired Mike’s brother, Kevin, to build the app. Finally, in July 2019, the MAD Freight app launched. It became useful to family and friends, but that wasn’t good enough. They wanted to help as many people as they could, all across the world.
In September 2019, to help get the word out, LeeAnn went completely out of her comfort zone and entered MAD Freight in the “SpeedPitch Competition” at the annual Utah Rural Summit. Together, she and Mike presented the business to hundreds of people. The judges loved the idea. They won:
- Top Choice from 6 out of 7 judges, including Utah’s Governor, Gary Herbert
- Audience Choice Award
- Over $4,000 in prize money
- Access to each of the judge's top business contact
- An Accounting Package worth $1,000
This conference jumpstarted MAD Freight. Since the conference, many people continue to download the app. Mike and LeeAnn also met experienced people who could help move their business along. They have sacrificed time, money, and many sleepless nights to ensure their vision of MAD Freight blossoms into a way to ‘Make A Difference’ in the lives of people around the globe.
